The Ducky One 3 at a Glance
The Ducky One 3 mechanical gaming keyboard is designed to give you the best typing experience possible. With a high-quality finish and trimmed for short response times, the Ducky One 3 offers gamers and keyboard enthusiasts a luxurious feeling when typing. Additionally, the switches are not soldered, instead they are mounted on sockets. This allows for effortless replacement.
This variant of the Ducky One 3 offered here is in the 65-percent SF form factor. By dispensing with the numeric keypad, the function keys, and some of the navigation keys, it requires even less space on the desk than an ordinary TKL keyboard. It is also less suitable for office applications. To save space, the arrow keys are also indented.
Mechanical Switches in Detail: Cherry MX Red
This version is equipped with Cherry MX Red switches. These key switches have a linear typing characteristic and a low resistance. This makes them an excellent choice for fast multiple clicks in action games, and first-person shooters because a tactile pressure point is not absolutely necessary for fast strokes. They are also quiet.
QUACK Mechanics
With this keyboard, Ducky introduces its QUACK Mechanics design philosophy. They consider four essential aspects that are decisive for the typing feel: the keycaps, the casing, the sound, and the stabilizers.
That is why almost all variants of the Ducky One 3 offer high-quality keycaps made of PBT. The semi-crystalline plastic is particularly popular among keyboard modders because it is resistant to friction. Ducky casts the keycaps from two layers of plastic so that the legend is always clearly legible. The keycaps do not develop the shine common to other plastics, which is caused by intensive use. As a result, the keyboard looks new for a long time.
Flat casing and smooth sound
A frequent criticism of mechanical keyboards is their clunkiness. The newly developed casing of the Ducky One 3 is flatter than that of its predecessors and, with the three-stage feet, supports the wrist.
To improve the sound and typing feel, Ducky tested a total of 17 different rubber composites and selected the most suitable variant for the Q-Bounce pad. This is combined with an additional foam layer made of EVA to effectively dampen resonances when typing and hard keystrokes.
